Job Summary
This is a unique opportunity to join one of the most established and high-growth companies in the voluntary carbon market. The Associate, NBS (Hydrology and Peatlands) will lead the technical development of an exciting peatland conservation and restoration project in Thailand and provide hydrological and other technical advice on other blue carbon and peatland projects across Southeast Asia. This mid to senior-level role reports to the Asia-Pacific Head of NBS.

Main Responsibilities
Lead the technical development and support the project management of a significant peatland conservation and restoration project in Thailand. This will include coordinating and managing hydrology and forest biomass consultants and other stakeholders involved in this project, consolidating technical inputs to project documents, and ensuring robust technical alignment to methodology and standard requirements.
Support, or where possible, lead the development of GIS and Remote Sensing work particularly focused on land cover and land use changes, hydrology analysis, and risk modelling.
Lead the technical development of other blue carbon and peatland projects across Southeast Asia, including the coordination of ecosecurities local and global technical teams to progress ecosecurities Asia-Pacific program of work.
Contribute to preparing carbon accounting reports and verification processes for Blue Carbon and peatland projects.
Contribute to writing Project Description Documents and Monitoring reports for ecosecurities projects.
Participate in the development of project proposals, including the identification of project components, project design, and the development of monitoring and evaluation plans.
Participate in advancing ecosecurities’ technical tools and knowledge repositories.
Keep abreast with methodological developments in the voluntary carbon market (VCM).
Support the commercial team with tools and information for rapid assessments.

Carbon market, environmental finance, and / or commodity market experience.

Fluency in English and one or more Southeast Asian languages.
Qualifications
Essential:
Degree in environmental science, natural resource management, hydrology, ecology, forestry, GIS/Remote sensing.
Experience in carbon project development in the voluntary carbon market (VCM).
Desirable:
Master or PhD in environmental science, natural resource management, hydrology, ecology, forestry, GIS or remote sensing.
Experience
3 to 5 years of experience in natural resource management with a demonstrated specialisation in hydrology or peatland conservation and restoration.
Project management experience with a demonstrated increase in responsibilities, including staff management.
Work in the voluntary carbon market with an applied understanding of voluntary standards and methodologies.
Demonstrated experience in calculating baseline and project emissions for VCM projects.
Experience in working with multiple stakeholders.
GIS and Remote Sensing experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
Good English language skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good knowledge of Microsoft products, including MS Project.
Good project and people management skills.
Good knowledge of GIS software (i.e. ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine).
Knowledge of Python, R, and other coding languages.
